The Seventh Day of Gritmas

26 Dec

By this stage of the proceedings, a nip of sherry or a glass of red ain’t gonna cut it. A stiff cocktail is the order of the day, and for those who have not yet experienced *twinkle* joy, here is the recipe:

Any old bottle of fizz (prosecco, champagne, even fizzy wine will do), a bottle of vodka, some elderflower cordial and lemon twist (from lemon rind – optional).
If you have a cocktail mixer, all the better, but if not, fear not. We made these in a measuring jug. Pour the vodka (2 or 3?!? capfuls) and elderflower (1 capful) into the jug with lots of ice, mix briskly with a spoon, then pour the liquid through a strainer into a martini glass or champagne flute. And top up with the fizz. Add the lemon twist if you have it to hand.

The twinkle is aptly named, because not only does it put a twinkle in your eye, it adds twinkliness to everything you do. One is plenty, two is too much (as I discover every time). Three – I can only imagine – is a trainsmash.

Gritmas Tip-ple:

Twinkle twinkle little star..
